PRESIDENT’S NEWSLETTER

January 2012

We got off to a good start for 2012 with a well-attended meeting on January 19th and welcomed Kate as Kathy’s guest.  Welcome Kate, we’re looking forward to you joining us on a campout.

The camping season is shaping up nicely and Wagonmaster, Karen Manning, once again continues to keep us updated even though she is traveling in warmer climes and having way too much fun.   Members, Mike and Sally, John, and Norm and Donna are also wintering in warmer weather but everyone stays in touch via e-mail.

Our own Norm has stepped forward and volunteered to fill in the position of State Treasurer after that office was left vacant due to the passing of Mavis Cronk.  Norm would make an excellent state officer and even though it is not final, it is almost certain that Norm will ascend to this office.  Go Norm!  This of course necessitates filling Norm’s position as Treasurer in our Chapter.  If anyone is interested, please contact me.

Our Chapter signed up three new members this past year.  Actually two of them are returning members and we look forward to getting three new pages in our member book!  Welcome back Goody, Art and Carol and welcome aboard Kathy.  As I said before, it's always good to get fresh ideas and expand our circle of friends.

Be sure to watch the website, capitolgypsies.org, for updated information on the campouts and don’t hesitate to call if you have questions or need more information or would like to volunteer to host a campout for September or October.  If you have interesting ideas for day outings, send Karen an e-mail and let her know.

We are going to start off the year with an interesting presentation from the Mountain Search and Rescue staff at our February 16th meeting.  This Chapter adopted MS&R in the past and donated funds when they could.  Somehow that mission slipped away in the past few years but members have voted to renew that dedication.  Come to the meeting on the 16th and renew your knowledge of what this volunteer organization does and how they do it.  Happy New Year, see you at the meeting   -joyce
